Advice and answers from the Intercom Team

Using Zapier you can connect and sync data between Intercom and the other products you use, like Salesforce, Wufoo, Zendesk, Uservoice and MailChimp.

Key features

Triggers and actions are events that happen in the products you use. A Zap combines a trigger from one product with an action in another — whenever the trigger event occurs, Zapier automatically completes the action for you.

You can use any of these Intercom triggers and actions to connect with other products using Zapier. Find out more on our page on Zapier here

Supported Triggers

  • New user - Triggers when a new user is created.
  • Lead added email - Triggers when a lead enters an email address.

How to create a Zap

You can create your own Zaps on Zapier by following this guide. Below are some of the most popular Zaps to give you an idea of how you can integrate Intercom with other products you may use.

Send Gmail emails to Intercom

If you receive emails in Gmail from customers and have ever wanted to log them as a new incoming message on Intercom, you can now do that with the help of Zapier.

Here's what you'll need to get started:

In Zapier, start by creating a Zap that automatically takes your new Gmail emails and uses that data to create new messages in Intercom. Click the "Use this Zap" button here to get started.

Next, click ‘Continue’ to verify that you’d like to set up the trigger. Then, select the Gmail account you’d like to connect to and click ‘Save and Continue.’

You'll then need to choose your mailbox or label name from the dropdown you'd like Zapier to monitor for new email. Whenever you apply this tag to an email, your Zap will trigger.

After that, your Zap will be turned on and you'll have the chance to test it out with new emails from your Gmail account. New emails from Gmail will end up as new messages in your Intercom account without any extra work.

Creating Intercom contacts automatically from Wufoo

If you collect form entries through Wufoo and have ever wanted to use those entries to create Intercom Contacts, you can now do that with the help of Zapier.

Here's what you'll need to get started:

In Zapier start by creating a Zap that automatically takes new Wufoo form entries and uses that data to create contacts in Intercom. Click the "Use this Zap" button here to get started.

This Zap uses a webhook for an instant connection. So next you’ll need to copy the Zapier URL on this screen and paste it into the Webhook notification setting of your form. You can read how to find this here.

You'll then need to use the "Insert Fields" button to map in data from your Wufoo form to fill in the full name and email address of the new contact you'll be creating. More on that process here.

After that, your Zap will be turned on and you'll have the chance to test it out with entries from your Wufoo form. From now on, information from new Wufoo form entries will end up as contacts in your Intercom account.
